Procrastination…

A few days ago I had a big to-do list with deadlines looming, then I had a run-in with my business bank.  The bank conversation unsettled me. I didn’t feel like getting on with stuff, wasn’t in the  right mood. Eventually I just knuckled down. Then suddenly it was the end of the day and realised I’d got to the end of the list.  It’s really surprising what you can achieve when you just get on with it.

However, I know that many of us waste time and footle around (that’s a term my Mum used to use) and then wonder where the day has gone – procrastination – I  know that I do it too.

So when you feel like that, get going and do something for just ten minutes.  You can do anything for just ten minutes. You’ll soon find those ten minutes have stretched to 20 or 30.

Award yourself a cup or tea or a peek at Facebook after you’ve ticked off something on the list.

Do the hardest and most intimidating thing first (a tip known as “eat that frog”)

Change your thinking from “I must do…” to “I choose to….”

Do tough tasks when you feel at your peak concentration time.

There,  just ten minutes will start you off – now ten minutes of fire lighting, then ten minutes of washing up – Sigh.
