Move along the bus

I was on a 90 minute bus journey recently and sat right at the front on the way out. It helps my travel sickness to see where I am going. On the return it was much busier and I was near the back. My window was covered with a logo, looking through it was like peering through mesh and I felt queasy.

As people got off I was able to move forward gradually, row by row. Finally I had the front seat. This didn’t take long and I spent most of the journey in a good seat.

This is how we generally make progress in life, taking opportunities as they arrive, moving forwards in small steps. Sometimes, as I did, you might have to move from side to side to get to your ultimate seat. Each of those moves takes you closer and gives you a fresh outlook. Of course if a space does come up right at the front then its great to leap right for it, cos someone could take that seat ahead of you. Even if you feel not quite ready, leap anyway, there may be no available seats later.

Consider all opportunities, you don’t if they’ll come past again. Where is the seat you ultimately want to travel in? What steps did you take towards it today? How much closer does it seem now? How will you move even closer tomorrow?
